What is the best cloth diaper?

5 reasons I love thirsties natural pocket diapers

They last through multiple kids

Thirsties natural pocket diapers are very high quality products

The main reason is that they last, the oldest one I have is almost 3 years old and still looks and works great.

Currently I have 8-9 that I have bought thoughout the last 3 years and they all seem to have the same longevity.

They fit different body types well

Their sizing , snap placement and elastics are excellent for ensuring a correct fit

They fit well on different body types, I bought my first thirsties natural pocket diaper for my daughter when she was almost 2 months old and built tall and thin, she is now almost 3 and they still fit her beautifully, they also fit my 1st son really well and he’s built a lot chunkier.

They have double gussets

Double gussets are more commonly found one diaper covers making these pocket diapers unique

They are one of the few pocket diapers with double gussets which are a big selling point for me because of they’re ability to stop poo-splosions ( if you don’t have kids yet, trust me it’s a big deal). Their double gussets are also very gentle on little legs, they fit properly on skinnier legs but aren’t too tight on chunkier legs.

Their inserts agitate out on their own

Tunnel pocket openings increase the ease of use for these diapers

They have a tunnel pocket, which means the pocket is open at the front of the diaper as well as the back, so if you stick your hand into the back pocket opening your hand will go straight through and out the front, the reason this is such a big deal is that when the pocket is open at both ends the insert can agitate out by itself in the wash , so no having to unstuff the diaper before putting it in the diaper pale or wetbag

Two vertical snaps

2 vertical snaps on each wing make the diaper easier to put on

Some diapers have a waist snap, leg snap and hip snap , that 3rd snap can be kinda confusing for caregivers who aren’t very familiar with cloth diapers, whereas thirsties natural pocket diapers have only the waist and leg snaps which gets right of a lot of the confusion , they also have excellent hook&loop/ Velcro which cuts down on confusion even farther

Now for 3 reasons I don’t like thirsties natural pocket diaper

The price

Thirsties natural pocket diapers on the medium to high end of the price range

While thirsties natural pocket diapers are very high quality and freakin’ adorable they are kinda pricy with the average cost being around $25.00-$26.00 before shipping and taxes, that would make a stash of 36 diapers around $900, that’s not including wipes, wetbags, extra boosters or extra inserts for overnight.

They tend to stain

Thirsties natural pocket diapers are lined with organic cotton therefore they are more prone to staining

All natural fibers ( cotton, bamboo, hemp) tend to stain more than synthetic fibers (microfiber, microfleece) so while the outside of the diaper is still as adorable as ever the inside is looking a little less than awesome.

Now keep in mind staining is only a problem as far as looks, there is a big difference between stained and dirty, as long as the diaper doesn’t smell it’s really up to you whether or not to try and stain treat or not.

They’re not stay-dry

Thirsties natural pocket diapers have no stay-dry lining, however one can be added.

I usually don’t like the idea that my baby feels wet, so I’ve always just put in a microfleece liner that makes the diaper feel stay-dry, however some people believe that being able to feel wet helps encourage older babies and toddlers to potty train.

To be clear it doesn’t hurt babies when they feel wet unless they have a wetness sensitivity, so the vast majority of the time it’s perfectly fine for a baby to feel wet it all just depends on what you are comfortable with.

In conclusion

I truly feel that the thirsties natural pocket diaper would be an excellent edition to anyone’s cloth diaper stash, not only does it fit well on different body types but it also has a very roomy cut which allows it to accommodates extra absorbency really well, which is very important as babies grow, it also gives it the capability to be used as an overnight diaper.

The thirsties natural pocket diaper has an awesome hook & loop/ velcro option that would be great for babysitters, daycares, etc.

I purchased my first thirsties natural pocket diaper during the black friday sales of 2018 and have loved them ever since.

If you are uncomfortable with it not being stay-dry thirsties does have a stay-dry version, I’ve never tried it but it should be the exact same just stay-dry
