How to find the right cloth diaper for you?

Trying to find cloth diapers that fit your baby, are absorbent enough and aren’t ugly (most important factor) is a pretty scary task, but it doesn’t have to be.

If you want cloth diapers that are cheap, try flats and covers, if you don’t want to have to fold a lot, try all-in-ones, if you want easy and customizable try pocket diapers.

There are tons of different options, and believe me, I know that is both a good, and a bad thing.

But trust me, chill, take a deep breath, you don’t have to get it right the first time.

How do I choose the right cloth diaper for me?

This is going to sound insane, but just pick one, any one.

If you like floral prints, go get the cutest floral prints, if you like animal prints, go get some cloth diapers with your favorite animal on them.

I can’t just say that because I love a certain cloth diaper that it will 110% work for you, that’s not how it works.

I can tell you about cloth diapers with certain features that I believe give them the ability to fit on many different body types and therefore are more likely to fit your baby.

Look for high quality cloth diapers

High quality cloth diapers are typically very well made, therefore they tend to be more absorbent and more customizable.

Keep in mind, high price doesn’t always mean high quality, it varies brand by brand, and sometimes even product by product.

For me I know that if Thirsties makes something, I will probably like it and use it all the time.

And while they are on the higher end as far as price, they have also proven to me that they are on the higher end for quality as well.

So, because they have proven to me to be high quality, I recommend them a lot and I look to them when I need or want a new solution for something.

You however, may not like Thirsties at all but because they are high quality, I feel they would be a brand you definitely want to look into.

Cloth diapers with double gussets

Double gussets are awesome, they also seem to make getting a good fit around baby’s legs much easier.

At the moment my 18 month old is the king of teething diarrhea (if you don’t know what that is consider yourself lucky) so double gussets are my bestest buddies.

Cloth diapers with a wider cut

Cloth diapers that are cut wider are roomier and therefore can hold more absorbency.

So, if your baby doesn’t need a lot of absorbency, you just have a little extra fabric.

But if suddenly your baby starts peeing through everything, you have room add more absorbency.

Try natural fiber cloth diapers

Natural fibers (like cotton, bamboo and hemp) tend to be more absorbent and easier to clean than synthetic fibers (like microfiber).

While natural fibers do seem to stain more often, stained and dirty are two very different things.

But if stains really bother you, synthetic fibers aren’t bad, they just tend to be more difficult and less forgiving.

And when you are new to cloth diapering you need easy and forgiving, so definitely check out natural fibers.

Where do I start looking for the right cloth diaper?

If you have no idea where to start looking for the right cloth diaper for you, try just searching ” best cloth diaper” or ” my favorite cloth diaper”.

Just look and see what other people like and why they like them.

Even now I still watch YouTube videos and read articles about cloth diapers that other people think are the best.

Because there might be a brand or style out there that I haven’t seen or heard of that would become my new favorite.

A few quick searches on YouTube or Google will most likely give you some pretty good options to choose from.

What is the best cloth diaper for me?

If you hate folding cloth diapers then you would probably like all-in-ones.

If you want cloth diapers that are very customizable and have just 1 flat surface when you put them on baby, maybe pocket cloth diapers are for you.

If you want a minimal stash that is cheap yet versatile, then you should check out flats and covers.

Once again, a little bit of google goes a long way here.
