Cloth diapering 3 kids under 3 years old

A new lil helper cloth diaper for each of my kids

Having more than 1 baby in diapers can get expensive and stressful, but there are ways to lessen that stress and I believe cloth diapering is one of those ways.

The average cost to diaper 1 baby for 2.5 years is about $2,500, so when you have 3 children very close together that cost can start to be a little overwhelming, but with cloth diapering the cost drops significantly.

$2,500 to disposable diaper 1 baby x 3 = $7,500 to disposable diaper 3 kids for 2.5 years each.

But with cloth diapers, even if you are buying a completely new stash for each baby that only comes to

24 cloth diapers per kid x 3 kids = 72 cloth diapers at an average cost of $17.00 per cloth diaper, that comes to a total of $1,224 to cloth diaper 3 kids full time for 2.5 years each.

That’s a total savings of $6,276

Would cloth diapering work with kids 3 under 3?

Cloth diapering would absolutely work if you have 3 kids, 3 and under, I cloth diapered 3 under 3 for 2 months before my oldest had her 3rd birthday.

And now I’m still cloth diapering 3 kids, 3 and under.

I’m also going to point out that from what I have experienced, and what I have read, or seen on YouTube, my kids are all pretty heavy wetters.

Now since I don’t know how many ounces my kids are peeing, I’m just gonna use an example.

3 pad folded receiving blankets will last my 2 toddlers a maximum of 2 hours, if they haven’t been hitting the sippy cups to hard.

So, even with 3 heavy wetting babies I still don’t have all that much trouble keeping up with the cloth diapering.

Actually, for me, the more kids I have, the more I love cloth diapering.

Between the money savings and the time and stress I save not having to load up all 3 little kids to go get diapers because someone had a really poopy day and we’ve run out.

The other thing is, the more kids you cloth diaper, the more practice you get, and therefore cloth diapering actually becomes easier because you have literally seen it all.

If you can diaper a baby than you can cloth diaper, and if you can cloth diaper 1 baby, you can cloth diaper 3.

What are the best cloth diapers for 3 under 3?

When you have 3 kids under 3, quick and easy things, are your new favorite things.

You are gonna want cloth diapers that are not only quick and easy for you, but also for other people are who trying to assist you with your swarm of kids.

Every day you’re going to be dealing with a lot of diapers and a lot of insane tiny humans that don’t know the first thing about self-preservation.

Put simply, diaper changes need to be quick and easy so you can get it done as fast as possible and go get one of the other kids off the roof or something.

For me the quickest and easiest cloth diapers, that are also the most versatile are pocket cloth diapers.

Pocket diapers are easy to put on and take off, they are easy to add absorbency to and some brands even have hook & loop/ Velcro pocket diapers, which make them even easier.

But if you just hate stuffing pocket diapers, than all-in-ones might be a good option.

But whether you go with pockets or all-in-ones, natural fibers are your best friends.

Natural fibers tend to be more absorbent and more forgiving when it comes to imperfect wash routines.

And trust me, you definitely want diapers that don’t leak as much and can handle you not being 100% on point with your wash routine every single time.

How many cloth diapers do you need for 3 under 3?

My cloth diaper stash for 3 kids, 3 and under

The number of cloth diapers you need can be figured out pretty easily.

8 cloth diapers a day x 3 kids = 24 cloth diapers a day.

Now I always like to have about 3 days worth of cloth diapers for each kid so,

24 cloth diapers x 3 days = 72 cloth diapers for 3 kids for 3 days.

Now 72 cloth diapers may seem like a lot, but if you were using disposable diapers you need to buy 720 disposable diapers per month.

With the current average cost of disposables being $0.23 per diaper, that comes to $165.60 per month for 3 kids, before tax.

If your older kids are actually thinking about potty-training (unlike mine ): ) then you may not need that many but having a few extra cloth diapers is better than not having enough.
