Can you still buy cloth diapers today?

Finding modern cloth diapers isn’t as difficult as it may seem, even though 91% of parents are currently using disposables there is still the whopping 9% of parents that use modern cloth diapers everyday.
The 9% of parents that use modern cloth diapers have a few different options when they want to purchase modern cloth diapers such as, Amazon, an online cloth diaper store or sometimes even a local cloth diaper shop.
With each of these different buying options comes a different buying experience, some better than others.
Some local stores carry modern cloth diapers
Some very well known stores carry traditional cloth diapers as well as the modern alternative.
While you probably won’t see the modern cloth diapers on store shelves quite a few stores do have them available online.
Cloth diapers at Walmart
In-store at Walmart most branches will only have Gerber flats, prefolds and plastic pants which are the same ones our grandparents used.
While the Gerber flats, prefolds and plastic pants were very popular back in the day, now with evolution of the modern cloth diaper they are pretty obsolete.
Walmart does carry some pretty good modern cloth diaper brands such as Bumgenius and Charlie banana but I personally have never seen them actually on the shelf.
On Walmarts website however they tons of different options.
Cloth diapers at Target
Target also has the Gerber flat and prefolds however they don’t seem to have the Gerber plastic pants even online.
Online Target offers a very nice selection of modern cloth diapers such as Thirsties ( my personal favorite), Kanga care and Charlie banana.
What surprised me the most with Targets selection of modern cloth diapers is that they even carry newborn cloth diapers.
Cloth diapers at buybuy Baby
Buybuy Baby doesn’t have any in-store but carries Gerber flats and prefolds , Charlie banana and Bumgenius online.
Cloth diapers at Kroger
Kroger does not have any modern cloth diapers in-store, but they do have a pretty good selection of Kanga care products online.
Local cloth diaper shops
If you’re lucky you might be able to find a cloth diaper shop in your neighborhood.
While there is nothing wrong with buying cloth diapers from a big box store most of the employees probably won’t be much help if you have questions.
Whereas if you can find a cloth diaper shop you will most likely have a better experience since there is probably someone there that at least knows the basics of how to use modern cloth diapers.

Online cloth diaper shops
The vast majority of the supplies for modern cloth diapering are found online.
Many smaller online cloth diaper shops are run by a parent who either does cloth diaper or has in the past.
Therefore their customer service will probably be a lot better than Amazon if you you have question on how to use or care for your cloth diapers.
Amazon
Amazon has a pretty good selection of modern cloth diapers such as Alva baby, mama koala, Charlie banana and Grovia.
Most of the modern cloth diapers on Amazon also qualify for Amazon prime.
I purchased my first 6 pack of Alva baby cloth diapers off Amazon and they came directly from china, so it took about a month for them to arrive at my house.
I don’t know if the Alva baby cloth diapers still come directly from china but just keep that in mind if you decide to order some.

Brands website
Each cloth diaper company will of course sell there own brand of cloth diapers on there website.
Thirstiesbaby.com will have all the Thirsties products, Smartbottoms.com will have all the Smartbottoms products etc.
Some manufacturers however make more than one brand of modern cloth diaper.
If you go to Cottonbabies.com you’ll see they make 4 different brands of modern cloth diapers Bumgenius, Flip, Elemental joy and Econobum
Buying modern cloth diapers directly from the manufacturer can be very beneficial as far as customer service goes.
Since no one knows there cloth diapers better than the ones who designed them.
Online boutiques
Little online cloth diaper shops and boutiques are my personal favorite place to buy cloth diapers.
There are quite a few online cloth diaper shops so if you find one that is based close to you the shipping will most likely be cheaper and faster.
Lil’ tulips (MN), my sweet pickles (SD) and Green mountain diapers (VT) are my favorite online cloth diaper shops.
They have an excellent selection of different cloth diaper brands, good prices and fast shipping
Online cloth diapers shops also sometimes have exclusive prints with a certain cloth diaper manufacturer, no other shop will have this print and usually they are super cute.

Cloth diaper buy/ sell/ trade groups on Facebook
Facebook buy/ sell/ trade groups are an awesome way to get cloth diapers, all you need is a Paypal account and you’re good to go.

Buy/sell /trade groups are also a great resource when you are trying to figure out which cloth diapers you are wanting to buy.
You can see which diapers are holding up over time, you could see someone selling a cloth diaper cause it didn’t fit there baby with chunky thighs well.
Then if you have a baby with chunky thighs you can decide if you want to give that cloth diaper a try or not.
You also wouldn’t be paying retail price for something you aren’t sure you’ll like, then if you try it and don’t like it you can put it back up for sale and get most of your money back.
